Our Services

Isochoric Preservation Devices

We custom-design, manufacture, and bench test isochoric chambers for all manner of isochoric biopreservation applications, from supercooled storage of human tissue and organs to storage of sensitive food products and beyond. We also build chambers for fundamental low-temperature kinetic and thermodynamic research, and are always looking for new research collaborations.

Low-temperature thermodynamic characterization

We specialize in low-temperature thermodynamic characterization of aqueous solutions. We can generate high-accuracy temperature-pressure and temperature-concentration phase equilibrium data, nucleation kinetics and supercooling data, and a variety of other thermodynamic information using our suite of proprietary low-temperature research technologies.

Cryopreservation and Cold Storage Consulting

Our team has extensive experience in cryopreservation and cold storage solutions for medical, research, and agricultural / food applications. We can assist your company in the development of cutting-edge preservation protocols, novel cryopreservation tools and technologies, and thermodynamic modeling and analysis. Give us a call!

Dr. Gideon Ukpai, PhD

Lead Scientist

Gideon Ukpai holds graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, and performed his doctoral studies on innovative 3D cryoprinting techniques for tissue engineering applications. He has published peer-reviewed studies on 3D cryoprinting, 3D cryolithography, directional solidification processes, isochoric freezing, etc, and holds several patents in related fields. Gideon specializes in numerical modeling of low-temperature thermal processes.

Allen Miller

Director of Engineering

Allen Miller honed his engineering fundamentals at Tesla, bringing innovative battery and charging designs from concept to market. His design process draws from first principles to realize groundbreaking new products that have been sold and deployed around the world. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in Mechanical Engineering. When Allen is not designing novel new cryopreservation devices, he moonlights as a budding jazz pianist.

Dr. Tony Consiglio, PhD

Director of Research

Tony holds degrees from Virginia Tech, Technische Universität Darmstadt, and UC Berkeley, and has published on topics ranging from nanoscale heat transfer to next generation molten salt nuclear reactors. He is a widely recognized expert on supercooled biopreservation techniques, and leads many of BioChoric’s core R&D efforts. When not in the lab, Tony can be found either biking up mountains or skiing down them.

Enric Guenther

Operations Manager

Enric Guenther holds degrees in physics and information science, and served as a two-year research scholar at UC Berkeley. He has numerous publications in the field of novel cancer treatment technologies, in which he also lead a startup from fundamental research to exit. When not at his computer, Enric can be found attempting to climb steep rock walls. Guided by his lifelong mission to be a good human being, he is now leveraging his significant startup expertise to translate transformative isochoric technologies from lab to industry.

Dr. Michael Stehling, MD PhD

Senior Medical Advisor

Michael Stehling, MD, PhD, is a renowned radiologist, physicist, and entrepreneur whose career spans decades of innovation. He has successfully taken numerous technologies from the laboratory to medical practice, including Echo Planar Imaging, a MRI technology developed under the mentorship of Nobel laureate Sir Peter Mansfield. His entrepreneurial achievements include founding several clinics and funding companies developing cutting-edge stem cell technologies and pulsed electric field treatments for prostate cancer. Still a world-leading authority in the latter, Prof. Stehling now embarks on his most ambitious project yet - harnessing isochoric cooling technologies to reshape healthcare globally.

José Villarejo Ramos

Biotechnology Systems Architect

José holds a degree in biochemistry and biotechnology from the university of Seville and Málaga. He has obtained several graduate degrees and research experience from various countries like France, Austria, the USA and Germany, where he started to develop an interest in the engineering side of biology and how this could help to solve medical problems. When he is not at the lab or building devices, he likes to enjoy the sunny days outside or a good cup of warm coffee on the rainy ones.
