Mechanical/Embedded Design Engineer

Job Description:

  • You will design, build, and test novel electromechanical devices to apply BioChoric’s world-leading organ preservation technology to an increasing range of tissues and organs

  • You will develop requirements from end users (e.g. hospital staff and surgeons) and physics first principles in thermal electromechanical design to produce products that are performant, sleek, and unlock high quality and affordable life-saving organ transplants.

  • You will report directly to the COO of BioChoric Inc. As part of a small team, you will have ample opportunity to wear many hats and make meaningful, tangible contributions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or better) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar field)

  • 2 - 8 years work experience in a subset of: product design with electromechanical packaging, embedded systems design, thermal analysis, stress analysis, and controls

  • Experience in user-facing consumer product design and contract manufacturer oversight

  • Experience in first-principles design, wet lab operation, benchtop fabrication and assembly, and factory bringup

  • Ability to work with a team and clients from a wide range of personal and technical backgrounds. Demonstrated history of strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel within North America to support product trials at hospitals and labs (estimate: up to 1 week per 1.5 months)

Location and Benefits:

  • BioChoric Inc centers hardware development in New York City with a secondary location in the SF Bay Area, so candidate location in (or willingness to relocate to) these regions is preferable

  • BioChoric Inc has employees and clinic relationships across North America, so exceptional candidates may work remote outside New York City and the SF Bay Area

  • Competitive salary ($100,000 - $200,000) commensurate with experience level and competitive equity package
